When
The image was taken by my group during the practical exercises for the astrophysics course.
Background
We touched on many aspects of astrophysics during the course. One of the aspects was imaging.
How
The image was recorded multiple times on a black and white CCD camera using different colour filters. The images were then combined to one high quality image.
Progress
The most suprising experience, apart from the quality of the image, was the computerized and calibrated telescope. It took only a few minutes for the computer to point the telescope at the nebula and automatically create the images. Creating such images is almost impossible for hobbyists with small telescopes.
